Costa Provis, LCPC,CHT

Costa is an experienced CBT therapist, helping clients to move through unproductive thinking patterns and a create calmer, more relaxed states of living. Using traditional CBT and aspect of REBT, he encourages clients to become the best version of themselves.

Collaborative in his approach, Costa enjoys helping clients identify important life goals and working with them to create a plan of action. Therapy works at a pace that is mutually agreed upon. Homework is sometimes given to help reinforce concepts explored in session. 

He earned his Bachelors in Psychology at DePaul University and his Masters in Clinical Mental from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Costa is a Licensed Psychotherapist and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. He is also a certified life coach. He offers in person sessions at his office or video sessions, depending on availability.

Nadia Hallak, LPC

Nadia is an intuitive, compassionate therapist who uses her empathic abilities to zone in on client strengths to build healthier, more resiliant ways of thinking. She uses tools such as EMDR, CBT, DBT and mindfulness as part of an integrative approach to client wellness.

She helps clients better understand their feelings while helping clients establish goals so they can reach their full potential. Caring and compassionate, she enjoys helping people to move through life challenges in a collaborative manner. 

A Licensed Professional Counselor, Nadia earned her Bachelor of Science from University of Illinois Chicago and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. She has extensive experience teaching college courses in human behavior at institutions such as DePaul University and the Triton College.

Dian Medrano, LPC, CCATP

Dian is an interactive therapist who helps clients work through anxiety and depression. A certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, he teaches clients grounding techniques while also working with clients to move through past traumas.

Using a collaborative approach, he helps clients move through unhealthy thinking patterns using a combination of cognitive behavior therapy and other modalities, such as EMDR and positive psychology, to facilitate change.  

He received his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Illinois at Chicago. Dian is available for in person counseling or video (telehealth) visits. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is EMDR trained.

Laura Bartz, LSW, CADC, CCATP

Laura is an intuitive therapist who helps clients identify triggers for anxiety and develop new coping strategies for working through. A licensed social worker and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, she draws on cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and mindful modalities to help clients arrive at a place of change. 

Her approach is collaborative in nature she believes that clients help set the pace of therapy. When appropriate, humor is sometimes used as an oasis for reprieve and to gain perspective. 

Laura received her Masters in Social Work from Loyola University as her Bachelor of Social Work from Loyola. She is available for video sessions or her office in Lakeview. She is a board certified drug and alcohol counselor and certified anxiety treatment professional.

Anthony Steeno, CCATP

Anthony is a certified clinical anxiety treatment therapist who enjoys helping clients live more balanced and relaxed lives. An interactive counselor, he teaches individuals mindfulness-based techniques as part of a comprehensive CBT offering. In this way, he helps clients to become the best versions of themselves. 

Collaborative and conversational, Anthony works to aid clients in identifying important life goals and helping them to create a plan of action.  With a background in sports coaching and education, he often provides homework assignments to help reinforce important concepts explored in sessions. His specialties include career stress, college anxiety, and identity issues. 

Anthony earned his Bachelor in Business Administration at Illinois State University and his Masters in Clinical Mental from Roosevelt University. He is a certified life coach. He offers in person sessions at his office or video sessions, depending on availability.

Carl Hippensteel, LCPC

Carl is a compassionate counselor who believes in the power of warm, healthy relationships to heal the distress of painful life experiences. He takes a creative and mindful approach to therapy with an emphasis on personal strengths and goal direction. With respect, humor, acceptance, and empowerment, he works to increase awareness and understanding. He will assist you in viewing yourself and your world in positive and exciting new ways. He enjoys collaborating with clients and helping them find a meaningful path to growth.

Carl wants to understand you as a person while helping you discover your strengths and needs. He will work with you in a creative and interactive way on the path to personal empowerment and change.

He has over 15 years of diverse clinical experience and is a licensed clinical professional counselor. His specialties include affirmative counseling/LGBT counseling (as a self identified gay cis male), issues of creative individuals, and therapy for persons with sensory processing sensitivity (HSP). He also has an extensive background working with mood, thought, and anxiety disorders. Carl currently sees clients via remotely via video sessions or in person at his office in Evanston.

Victoria Troshina, ATR

Victoria is a registered art therapist who works with clients to utilize art materials as a way to express themselves in therapy. It is ok if you have never identified as being “artistic,” you do not need to be artistic in order to engage in art therapy, her philosophy is to “focus on the mark
making, not art making.” Her approach centers on a social justice, multi-cultural orientation, and acknowledging the complexity of identity while navigating trauma’s negative effects without traumatization but by building resilience, self expression and self regulation skills.

She received her masters degrees in Counseling Psychology, with an art therapy focus, from Adler University Chicago and bachelors degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her professional experiences include working in creative after school programs with adolescents, working with adults with persistent mental illnesses in community mental health art studios, as an Expressive Therapy supervisor in a psychiatric in patient hospital, and private practice.

She is currently accepting clients for an in person sessions in her Evanston office or via remote sessions.

Frank Moore-Sasso, LCPC,CHT (Founder)

Frank was the founder of the Calm Anxiety CBT Therapy Clinic (Anxiety Therapist Chicago). He passed away in May of 2022 after a long illness. His profile and information is being shared here as a remind of his vision long held belief that counseling around anxiety can transform lives. Frank held a doctorate in psychology from California Coast University and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Illinois School for Professional Psychology. 

He was a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and held board certifications as a substance abuse counselor and clinical hypnotherapist. He often combined mind and body approaches to wellness, which in part was informed because Frank also was a certified personal trainer. While Frank is no longer with us and will be sorely missed, his work goes on.
